MINUTES FROM LIMA MAYOR CARL LUFT

A public hearing will be held on April 8th at 7 PM during the regularly scheduled Village Board meeting to discuss the proposed 2008-09 Village Budget and Tax Rate.  The proposed budget determined a tax rate of $5.07 per $1000 assessed value.  This is a decrease of $0.16 per $1000 assessed value.  By utilizing a positive return on interest savings during the construction period of the new Ambulance facility, we were able to reduce the tax rate.

At our March 11th Board meeting, the Comprehensive plan was formally adopted unanimously. I wish to thank all the committee volunteers and community members who attended the many meeetings we had over the past several years to develop and finalize this document.

The Village Board has appointed Duane Fuller to the Zoning Board of Appeals.  We want to thank Duane for volunteering to serve our community.

We have had several meetings with the newly formed Business Alliance Committee.  This grant project by Livingston County assists local established and new start up businesses within the Village.  There has been a great turn out for these meetings and the many possibiliites available.  Everyone is encouraged to aattend the next meeting on April 16th at 7:00 PM in the Town Hall to learn more.

The Summer Recreation Program is preparing for another exciting season.  The location for this year's program is still undetermined at this time.  Building construction at the Lima school may force us to relocate where the program will be held.  A "clean up" day is being scheduled for the Mark Tubbs Park on April 19th starting at 9:00 AM.  Everyone is invited to come and help pitch in to spruce up our beautiful park.

The Village office will be operating on summer hours beginning May 1st through Labor Day.  Office hours will be from 7 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 3 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Wednesday from 9 AM to Noon.

The Village and Town will be hosting Fireworks on the 4th of July starting at 9:45 PM at Mark Tubbs Park.
