DECEMBER 2009 NEWSLETTER

SNOW:  As we approach the winter season, we would like to remind everyone that parking on village streets from 2 AM to 6 AM is prohibited.  If you have a fire hydrant in front of your residence, please help our Volunteer Fire Dept. and keep it cleared of snow..

CHRISTMAS TREES:  The village crew will once again be picking up Christmas trees this year.  Please place them by the roadside and we will pick them up as time permits.

BRUSH:  The village crew picks up brush three (3) times a year (April, July, and September).  Please do not put out brush at any other time as it will not be picked up.

HUNTING:  Hunting of any kind is prohibited in the Village of Lima. (Local Law # 5 of 2007).

CODE ENFORCEMENT:  Wood stoves and chimneys should be checked and cleaned on a regular basis.

WATER/SEWER RELEVY:  Re-levy cut-off date is Feb. 26, 2010.  All unpaid water and sewer bills will be re-levied onto the 2010-11 village taxes after Feb. 26, 2010.

TRIAD NEWS:   PROJECT LIFESAVER is available in Livingston County as an effective solution for rescuing wandering or lost individuals with Alzheimer's, autism and other cognitive disorders through the use of a wristband transmitter system.  For more information contact Deputy Applin at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office at 585-243-7100.

PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE:  Typical Wastewater Treatment processes are not designed to remove pharmaceuticals.  Please dispose of them safely as per instructions on the DEC's website at www.dontflushyourdrugs.net.

LIMA AMBULANCE:  Lima Ambulance is in need of new volunteers.  There is an immediate need for both drivers and people willing to be trained to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's).  EMT classes are available in Lima beginning in January 1010 free of charge for those willling to become a member of the Lima Ambulance Corp.  For information about EMT training dates or to volunteer please call Donna Lindsay at 624-5381 or Norm Caccamise at 582-1612.
